John's Bikes
1955 Moto Guzzi Airone Touring 250cc
Restored several years ago, but badly stored, this bikes awaits some chrome work. An excellent rider for around town. Usual speed: 40 mph. The name is Italian for "heron." A smaller version of the popular Falcone, they were deluxe commuting vehicles in Italy in the 50's and 60's. Ignition is by magneto, and the horizontal engine features an external flywheel, which spins next to the rider's left foot. Another odd feature is the brake pedal operated by heel, not toe as is usual.
